Quote of the day Wednesday January 28 2009

Sarah: "I love you so much Ben"
Ben: "I love you too Mummy.......because you are such a sweet girl."
Just melts my heart.

Blast from the past......

Okay this is in reaction to Ruth's post "Trains do my bidding"

Two of Ben's first words were "bus" (meaning bus obviously) and "moungee" (meaning monkey) around this time he was pretty obsessed with both buses and monkeys. He would point them out everywhere. Then the most amazing thing happened........... Telus launched it's monkey ads. And then plastered these adds all over T.T.C. buses. Resulting in plentiful "Moungee-bus"s. I'll never forget the first time he saw one of these adverts on a bus, he was so excited;
"Moungee!...Bus!... Moungee!... Bus!.......... Moungeebus! Moungeebus!"
No wonder he thinks the universe bends to his will!

Snow! Snow! And More Snow!

It's hard to believe so much snow fell today. Well I guess that's Canada for ya. When there's no thaw between snow falls it can really start piling up. I know one person at least who really doesn't mind. He had to tunnel through the snow bank at the edge of the drive way to get to the lawn! After we finished shoveling we decided to talk a snowy walk around the block, and Ben insisted on bringing his shovel, so that he could plow the street......

Quotes of the day- January 14th 2009

Today I have more than one, and the day isn't even over yet! I guess it's just a funny sort of day.

Shortly after a somewhat sticky breakfast:
Ben:" From now on, I'm not going to wash my hands. Instead, I will wipe them very slowly on my sweater."
Me: "No Ben."
Ben: "On your sweater?"

I'm in the kitchen putting cups away, and my leg is being repeated whacked (gently) with a large stuffed polar bear while Ben is joyfully singing a song I've never heard before:
"Swing your bear side to side,
side to side,
into every single little Mummy,
Swing your bear side to side,
side to side.
And do the actions,
of the polar bear activity"
At this point I just about collapsed with laughter so I didn't get to hear the rest of the song.

A little while later this self same polar bear was "talking" (Ben has a special voice that he uses when he makes his toys talk, it's very high pitched.):
Bear: "I'm a dog, I'm certain! I'm a dog, I'm certain!"
Ben: "Mummy he's lying!"
Bear: "I'm a dog, I'm certain! I'm a dog, I'm certain!"
Ben: "Mummy, he's lying he says he's a dog when he is clearly a bear!"

Quote of the day January 12th 2009

Sarah: "It was like a long time ago."
Ben: "How long ago Mummy?"
Sarah: "Like over a thousand years ago."
Ben: "Is that a long time ago?"
Sarah: "Yes, a very, very long time ago."
Ben: "Like when you and Daddy lived on Keele st?"

It's extremely difficult to explain the concept of time (especially to someone who barely has a three year frame of reference). I never thought about it overly much until I had to explain it. It don't like to think about it for too long, 'cause it kinda freaks me out.

Quote of the day January 6th 2009

7:15pm (15 minutes after bedtime)

Ben: "Mummmmmmmy come!"
Me: "What it is baby?"
Ben: "I feel sick."
Me: "Like how?"
Ben: "Like I have diarrhea in my throat and in my bowels."

DISCLAIMER:
It was completely untrue. A trip to the potty produced nothing........I suspect these were just "get me out of bed" tactics.

Trucks! Trucks! Trucks!

So all little boys love things with wheels right? I know mine sure does. For a long time I tried to insist that "girly" toys got as much play as "manly" toys. When I realized that I was fighting a losing battle I gave up. He's old enough now to choose what toys he wants to play with and I'm glad to say that there is a fair rotation of stuffed animals in the mix. Also the trucks have been know to have a tea party or two.
But on to the trucks!

For his birthday Ben received a large recycling truck, and of course as we all know, trucks go to depots

........and refueling stations.

Apparently some of these stations have helicopter landing pads on top!

Ben also received a remote control car, which had to be modified to carry recycling.

I thought it was perhaps more suited to penguins, but as usual I was wrong.

It was more suited to bears.

It's surprisingly difficult to take a photo of a bear riding on top of a remote control car!

Quote of the day- January 3rd 2009

"Mummy, you must never hide cucumbers in my cheese sandwich"

Some Pictures from the holidays....

Due to a camera mix up I have no actual photos from Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but here are a few from around that time.......Trimming the tree and making some gifts!
One day I will figure out how to get photos off of my cell phone, then I will have some more to add here!

December Fun!

For B.C. who is born on December 12th, December is the month of never ending gifts. Things begin arriving in the mail, visitor bring packages, and let us not for get the big Birthday party and all the little Christmas parties. It seems every time we told him "There will be NO presents today." we were proven wrong.
But thankfully it's now January and he seems to understand that all that silliness is over!

The big Party!! December 13th 2008

Three years is quite an accomplishment! We had lots of lovely guests and fabulous decorations! Being both the designated cake bringer and the designated picture taker, I don't seem to have captured any pictures of the cake :(
