Why you should listen to your Mother.....

I really believe in letting the boy figure out things for himself. I much prefer to help him and guide him to wards things than to lead him out right.
Now having said that I will tell him if something is a bad idea and let him know what the possible consequences are. But he still wants to do it and it won't actually harm him, then I'll let him find out for himself. Ben is pretty mature for his age so this works well for us.

*ahem*

Sarah "We have to wait until next time."
Ben "But why Mummy, there are lots of empty seats!"
Sarah "Yes there are, but they only allow one adult per ride, and that man is going, right now."
Ben "But I can go by myself"
Sarah "Yes you can but I don't think you realize how scary that thing is. I think you should wait until next time so I can be beside you."
Ben "But I don't want to wait I want to go NOW."
Sarah "Okay dude, it's your choice. Are you really sure you want to go on that scary ride all by yourself?"

Black Creek Pioneer Village visit

I loved going to this place when I was little. I always had a great time weather I was going with my family or on a field trip with school.
Ben's two favorite things were the mill and the water pump. (check out the hip action!)

I enjoyed the sheep, and also the mill. Ben tried his hand at combing out the raw wool (fresh from the sheep) and probably would have sat there doing it for hours if I had let him .

This is Actually under the mill house, you can see all the gears turning and get a really good idea of how the water wheel makes everything work. It was really interesting.

We also had a great time seeking out outhouses.

And looking in all the barrels out side the barrel makes.

Good times, I'm sure we'll go again soon.

Quote of the day May 16th 2009

I am sitting at the computer in my bath robe (What? it's Saturday morning! I'm allowed)
And Ben says to Andrew while motioning at me:
"Ah Mummy, what elegance! What style!"
So we of course erupt into laughter, and ask him when he got that from, and he informs us it's from a video about snow groomers.
Ah, I'm so blessed.

The Zoo

This small bird was so quick and cute. You can't really see it in this photo but there is a small stick beside him which he was playing with. He was hopping all around Ben who was watching very intently.
Until,
some adult came rushing through and nearly stepped on the bird!
I actually yelled "LOOK OUT!"
Those darn adults, always rushing around the zoo......
